ALL ABOUT PEAKE FRUIT

Devora Peake, founder of Peake Fruit

Peake Fruit Ltd. together with its sister company Plantsman Ardleigh Storage Ltd. a first class fruit packing and marketing company are subsidiaries of The Boxford Group, a family owned business founded by Bill and Devora Peake. The Peake family have been producing top quality fruit in East Anglia for the last 60 years. From a small 120 acre apple farm, the Peakes' entrepreneurial skills have developed a thriving and diverse group of companies which have grown to include golf, leisure and fruit processing businesses on 900 acres of land.

In the 50's and 60's the Peake family supplied prestigious London Stores and Hotels with fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products and they soon built up a reputation for producing top quality wholesome food. They were also founder members of the Soil Association and as pioneers of this movement, grew a wide variety of organic fruit, cereals and vegetables.

Part of Peake's success in producing a best quality English apple was attributed to a pioneering irrigation scheme installed in 1958 - at that time, the largest private irrigation system in Europe. The origin of the Peake family business was in fruit growing, and this is still a Fundamental activity of the company.

Over the last sixty years the family have developed tremendous experience and skills in the growing, packing, branding and marketing of top quality fruit and fruit products. The purchase of Plantsman Ardleigh Storage Ltd in 1995 and the creation of 'Peake Fruit' has enabled them to develop this expertise further and they are now among the most important suppliers of premium fresh fruit to leading UK supermarkets and the food industry.
